Community Life Engagement (CLE) Toolkit

Highlighting CLE Guidepost #1: Individualize Supports for Each Person

Services that support community life engagement (CLE) should meet the needs of each unique person. This starts with getting to know each person’s preferences, goals, interests and skills. That information can be used to identify community activities that can make up daily or weekly schedules while maintaining focus on personal choices.

Providing individualized services with limited resources means being creative with how provider resources are used. Providers can also seek out creative revenue streams to increase capacity to provide individualized supports.

This webinar is part of a free webinar series aimed at helping service providers across the country develop and improve supports that lead to meaningful CLE outcomes. These webinars are for administrators and direct support professionals with the goal of benefiting people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD). Multiple perspectives, including those of provider staff and administrators, people with IDD, family members, and other CLE experts will be incorporated. Guest speakers from underserved communities and/or who support underserved communities will also participate. The webinar series will center around storytelling, peer learning, and information sharing.
